Trey Albaugh Fly Fishing

established in 2020

I began fly fishing over 10 years ago at the age of 14. My parents gave me a fly rod for Christmas and I began catching bass, bluegill and carp on the 8’ 4 weight rod in NW Houston, TX. Upon graduation from high school I became obsessed with the sport of fly fishing. All free time from class and baseball was spent chasing trout on tailwaters in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Colorado. It was my junior year of college (where I was playing baseball at Texas Lutheran University) that I discovered the Guadalupe River and the amazing fishing opportunity it provided out my backdoor. I spent nearly every day on the Guadalupe river before classes and after baseball practice perfecting my craft and learning every inch of the river. I learned quickly there’s world-class fly fishing in New Braunfels, TX and that I wanted to offer others a chance to share the same experiences. I began taking teammates fly fishing and teaching them everything I knew. About the same time I started tying flies and purchased my first raft. It was becoming clear, this was more than just a hobby. My passion for the sport is like nothing else. After graduating from TLU I spent the summer guiding and learning the fisheries of the Gunnison River valley. The Taylor, East, and Gunnison Rivers is where my guiding career started. Spending the summer networking and learning from veteran anglers and guides was invaluable. Hope to share my knowledge, experience, and passion with you on the river. See ya soon.
